1st Day of Utah 4a State Championship

1st day at state was a bit rough. Tommy was doing pretty good until about half way through where he had a shot at eagle from 15 ft and three putted to PAR. After that he was just kind of shaky for the rest of the day.

There was only a handful of other freshman in the tournament and it looked like they all got a little bit of the nerves. This is the first time the whole year the team didn’t use Tommy’s score.

Timpview made the cut so we got to watch a second day of golf at the State Championship.

On the second day, Tommy was able to settle down a bit and play better golf. He started out really really good and then dipped a bit, then leveled out.

He certainly didn’t play his best golf, but it was good enough to help the team post the low score for the day and gave them a bump in the rankings.

He ended up finishing 48th out of the 104 total players that made it to the state championship and if he had played to his average on the first day, he would have been good enough to break the top 12. Oh well.

It was a really close finish. Timpview finished just three strokes behind the winner and got fourth place.

It was fun to watch him play this year, but it was all over way too quickly!
