Interesting note was Tommy was disqualified after the first day. He said he wasn’t having a great day golfing and was focusing on his game and not the score. When they went to declare their score, he just nodded along with the scorer for his score and submitted without realizing the scorer had recorded an incorrect score by giving him a 1 stroke better score. He noticed the discrepancy several minutes later and went to correct, however in so doing, they disqualified his score.
The disqualification didn’t effect much as he was tied for the fourth (last) score to be counted out of the six players, and he was able to play with the team the next day.
He definitely caused waves. Apparently rumors spread like fire and even the starter on the first tee was talking with him about “some kid” who was dq’d, but he wondered, what did he do! Tommy just meekly said, yeah, that was me and explained what happened.
He ended up explaining it over and over and over again throughout the day. Apparently everyone was just besides themselves that he was so honest he would dq himself! He played better the next day and did help the team score, but as noted, Pima finished Third.
