Timpview made the cut so we got to watch a second day of golf at the State Championship.

On the second day, Tommy was able to settle down a bit and play better golf. He started out really really good and then dipped a bit, then leveled out.

He certainly didn’t play his best golf, but it was good enough to help the team post the low score for the day and gave them a bump in the rankings.

He ended up finishing 48th out of the 104 total players that made it to the state championship and if he had played to his average on the first day, he would have been good enough to break the top 12. Oh well.

It was a really close finish. Timpview finished just three strokes behind the winner and got fourth place.

It was fun to watch him play this year, but it was all over way too quickly!

Tommy went to state with the Timpview Golf team the last two days. It is so fun to watch him!

End of season awards were handed out today for region play. Tommy made 1st team All-Region. It essentially recognizes the top 12 players of the season and gives them an automatic berth to participate in the State Championship regardless of team play. Then the Timpview team was presented the Region Champion trophy.

Today was the region finale at Talon’s Cove golf course. Tommy shot 11th best overall and Timpview finished second. Below are the results in order:

Tommy had a pretty decent round going apart from two “blow-up” holes that accounted for 7 of his 10 strokes over par.

On Monday and Tuesday of next week is the State Championship at Soldier Hollow golf course. Check the weather, that’s gonna be fun!

Tommy won his first high school golf tournament!

Today’s region tourney was at Thanksgiving Point golf course. Timpview finished first. Below are the team results in order:

Tommy hit a 5 wood to within about 3 feet today on a 280 yd par 4. Conditions today were also very windy due to incoming storms.

Next week’s tournament is the region championship and is Wednesday at Talon’s Cove golf course.
