2024 Utah Audi Quattro Cup Regional Winner

Tommy and his playing partner won the Utah Regional Audi Quattro Cup! He won a golf bag (as modeled by my daughter) and an all-expenses-paid-trip to stay at the PGA Omni in Frisco, TX to compete for the national championship at Fields Ranch G.C.! Then, if they win that, on to Oman for the world championship!

Mesa Thunderbird Invitational at Dobson Ranch Golf Course in Mesa, AZ

Day 1

Tommy thought he didn’t play that well. He shot even par in very windy and cold conditions. Turned out that the score had him tied for second. Not Bad!

Day 2

He was playing well and ran into a bit of a road bump on the 17th hole. He hit the shot just long of the hole where the ball hit a sprinkler, took a huge bounce, hit the cart path and went out… bad break. The indicated drop zone was essentially a mud bath, then he had to get it up and down. He did have two eagles for the tournament, one each day. Plus, he bounced back like a pro on the next hole after 17 with a birdie!

Chandler-Gilbert Coyote Classic at Las Colinas GC in Queen Creek, AZ

Tommy is starting the season where he finished last season, with a 65 to lead the pack.

Day 1

Day 2

Difficult second day with turning in an 80. However, he still shot the low round for the tournament. But incredibly Poor sleep, plus early wake-up call and waiting because players didn’t finish the first day round, were difficult to overcome. But it’s just another challenge to overcome. I think he’s got a great plan to help and hopefully the next tournament is fire.

So again, positives are that he can score and go low and hasn’t lost anything from the winter break.

Top Ten

I didn’t get to see many of Tommy’s golf tournaments this year. However, I did get to see one AND I recorded it!

I finally got around to editing the videos and I think they turned out pretty good. Tommy’s fun to watch. His hard work has been paying off. In a recent golf tournament, he was tied for the lead going into the last hole and then his last tournament ended in a outright win.

He’s ranked 10th nationwide at the juco level. He has a 4.0 GPA. We’re hoping to see him play with a D1 squad next year. I think he’ll end up securing a spot somewhere. I put the logos of players at D1 schools on the final scoresheet. He can definitely hang with them.

Here is also a video I put together of some of the shots of his friend Jaxon.

Golf Update – Moving Up The Rankings and Stone Canyon

Tommy let me know that he and the team have moved up in the men’s rankings on Golfstat. Pima is now ranked 9th and Tommy is sitting at 11th! Nice! He had a near win where he was tied for 1st heading into the last hole, but came up short. Then he just won a tournament outright. It just shows his hard work and dedication is paying off. Plus with his First Team Academic All-American honor while studying engineering, hopefully we’ll see him golfing at the NCAA D1 level next year!

Meanwhile, he was able to play at the private club of Stone Canyon with his co-workers from Tucson Country Club. Courses down there are unreal!

Win at Park U Fall Shootout at Las Colinas Golf Course in Queen Creek, AZ

Tommy got his first win in college. He recently came close when he was tied for the lead at one point and needed a birdie to t1 on the last hole which was a par 5. He pulled the win out this time, plus, he won it outright. The tournament was a smaller, one-day, off-season tournament, but his score was still amazing. He shot a 65 (-6) on a course he’d never played/practiced, nine birdies and 3 bogeys.

Pima Fall Classic

Pima hosted a little off season tournament at Silverbell GC in Tucson. It was one day only with Pima, Mesa, and Chandler-Gilbert. Pima played most of the team. Tommy played ok, school has been a bit more difficult and has taken a lot more of his time lately.

South Mountain Classic

Tommy got the closest so far to clinching a win. First day he shot plus two, but the second day he was playing great golf and was -4 going into the last hole which was a par 5 (higher chance for bird which would have given him a T1 finish). However he ended up with a triple on the hole to finish -1 for the day and +1 for the tournament.
